SUMMARY:Film Screening: My Name Is Andrea
DESCRIPTION:Film Screening of My Name is Andrea\, a documentary about the life and work of Andrea Dworkin. \nMy Name is Andrea is the story of controversial feminist writer and public intellectual Andrea Dworkin\, who offered a revolutionary analysis of male supremacy with iconoclastic flair. Decades before #MeToo\, Dworkin called out the pervasiveness of sexism and rape culture\, and the ways it impacts every woman’s daily life. \nThis program is designed for adults. The presentation contains images intended for mature audiences that some may consider explicit. \nIndividuals under the age of 17 will be granted admission to the program if accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nDoors open at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. \nThe Steinem Sisters Collection champions women’s historical\, cultural\, and political contributions and strives to provide a welcoming space for women from all walks of life to share their truths. It is composed of “feminist materials\,” intersectional works that uphold human and women’s rights and interests in defining and promoting political\, economic\, personal\, and social equality of the sexes\, races\, classes\, sexual orientations\, and genders. The Steinem Sisters Collection has grown to over 900 titles in the ten years since its inception. Regular programming\, including book discussion groups and talking circles\, aims to highlight the collection and build community. This collection was made possible due to a generous donation by The Steinem’s Sisters Collective.
