DESCRIPTION:Toledo Lucas County Public Library welcomes all to our concert series\, Live at the Library\, a series featuring musical talent as they tour the country. This month\, we welcome singer Miss Emily.\nMiss Emily’s story is one of resilience\, grit\, and triumph. In 2020\, just days after winning three Maple Blues Awards — Female Vocalist\, New Artist\, and Sapphire Blues Video of the Year — the world shut down\, leaving her with an empty calendar for the first time in two decades. Undeterred\, she channeled her energy into a bold idea: creating LIVE at the Isabel\, a live album drawn from six electrifying\, sold-out performances at Kingston’s Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. Released in October 2020 to rave reviews\, the album captured the magic of her roof-rattling live shows. Despite skeptics doubting the viability of submitting a live album for a JUNO\, Miss Emily proved them wrong. In 2022\, LIVE at the Isabel earned a JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year\, cementing her status as a force in the Canadian music scene. Miss Emily’s powerhouse vocals\, magnetic stage presence\, and determination have been forged through 20 years in Southern Ontario’s bars and clubs. Her performances are unforgettable\, her spirit unstoppable. With a soulful blend of blues\, rock\, and passion\, she continues to inspire and captivate audiences.\n\nLive at the Library\, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s free monthly concert series\, welcomes five singer-songwriters from the Midwest and Canada this spring and summer. The lineup features Lucy Kaplansky\, Half Gringa\, Joshua Davis\, Julian Taylor\, and Miss Emily. Live at the Library invites performing artists to take center stage in the Main Library Atrium as they tour the country.
