Flamenco Vivo

This incredible New York City-based company brings a world music and dance performance that combines raw emotion, technical mastery, and rich cultural history. Originating from Andalusia in southern Spain, flamenco blends influences from Romani, Moorish, Jewish, and Spanish folk traditions, making it a deeply expressive and multicultural art form. The dancers’ precise footwork, fluid arm movements, and intense facial expressions convey everything from sorrow to joy, often improvising in response to the music and singing in real time. This connection between dancer, guitarist, and singer creates an electric, almost spiritual atmosphere. Flamenco is not just a dance—it’s a dramatic storytelling experience that captivates audiences with its passion, complexity, and authenticity. In addition to this public performance, the residency by Flamenco Vivo will include a public lecture and demonstration at the Sofia Quintero Cultural Center, as well as two Valentine School Days presentations where students will come to the Valentine Theatre to learn about and experience firsthand the rich culture and history of Flamenco dance and music.
